Železničný podchod - viadukt železnice

Harmanecká papiereň patrila na začiatku 20. storočia medzi najväčšie papierenské závody vo vtedajšom Uhorsku. Pre jej ďalší rozvoj bolo potrebné vybudovať železničné spojenie s mestom Banská Bystrica, a tak priamo napojiť papiereň na celouhorskú železničnú sieť. Súčasťou tejto trate bol aj železničný podchod pod Jesenským vŕškom. Železnica bola do prevádzky odovzdaná 31. 10. 1913. Trať začínala v Banskej Bystrici na hlavnej stanici, (ktorá sa v tom období nachádzala v miestach súčasného mestského úradu), prechádzala cez kopec Bánoš a po úpätí kopca Stráža, až sa dostala do údolia potoka Bystrica, kde bola v km 4,815 postavená železničná zastávka a podchod. Kamenným, oblúkovito-klenutým podchodom s letopočtom 1929 sa v súčasnosti dá prejsť z Bakossovej ulice napr. k Štátnemu archívu alebo Gymnáziu Andreja Sládkoviča.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Harmanec Paper Mill was one of the largest paper mills in Hungary. Its further growth required a railway link to connect it to Banská Bystrica and thus directly to the railway network covering the whole of Hungary. The track included a viaduct with underpass on Jesenský vŕšok. The railway link was put in service on 31 October 1913. It started at the main train station in Banská Bystrica (located at that time on the site of the present-day Municipal Authority Offices) and passed over the Bánoš hill and along the foot of the Stráža hill before it reached the Bystrica valley where, at the distance of 4.815km, a train stop and an underpass were built. The arching, vaulted underpass, made of stone and with the year 1929 marked on it, can be used today to pass from Bakossova street to the State Archives or the Andrej Sládkovič Grammar School.
